How to turn off your Irrigation system

To turn off your irrigation system, first go to the controller and turn it to the "Off" position. If water continues to run or you have a valve box full of water, find the backflow device usually located near the house water main. There should be a line coming off the house main with either a gate valve or ball valve. By turning this valve, it should shut off the water to the irrigation system.

Modern Backflow Preventers are equipped with two "ball valves". Each has a handle that appears as a "T" shaped lever on the backflow device. Rotate either of them in a clock-wise direction to shut the flow of water. Once the system is off, call Sprinkler Dude LLC for assistance!

Backflow Prevention

Backflow is the undesirable reversal of flow of non-potable water or other substances back into the piping of a homeowner's potable water system. Backflow Preventers are required by code for systems utilizing underground inline irrigation valves.
