Most irrigation systems have a backflow device, also called a vacuum breaker, like the ones shown below.

If water continues to run after turning your controller off, turn one of the vacuum breaker’s ball valves a quarter turn so the handle is perpendicular to the pipe. This should shut off water to the entire irrigation system. Once the water is off, contact Sprinkler Dude LLC to diagnose and repair the issue.
